Supports the operational functionality of the endoscopy unit by preparing procedural rooms and maintaining equipment. Provides technical and procedural assistance to physicians and nursing staff during gastrointestinal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and BLS certification with at least one year of relevant experience. Must demonstrate competency in scope reprocessing and assisting with gastroenterology procedures in an acute care setting.
EDUCATION: Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma. High School Diploma or GED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE: BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: 1 year recent relevant experience SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Experience in endoscopy services or demonstrated competency assisting with gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures in an acute care setting. Knowledge of gastrointestinal anatomy, procedures, endoscopic views, and endoscopic equipment. Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Ability to interpret instructions and information presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced procedural environment. Effective communication skills when interacting with physicians, nurses, patients, and multidisciplinary teams. Working knowledge of electronic health records and standard computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office). Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an environment with frequent interruptions and competing priorities. Ability to evaluate and resolve routine problems using established policies, procedures, and available resources.
