• Focused postpartum assessments: fundus, lochia, pain, perineum, bladder, vitals Postpartum hemorrhage recognition and first-line interventions Breastfeeding support and safe formula feeding education Management of common postpartum needs (pain control, mobility, peri-care) Post-operative cesarean section care. Maternal mental health screening (e.g.,

• Comprehensive newborn assessments
• Routine newborn care: meds (Vitamin K, Hep B, erythromycin), baths, weights Thermoregulation and blood sugar monitoring Feeding support for breastfeeding and formula-fed infants Jaundice screening Newborn screening coordination (CCHD, hearing, heelstick) Safe sleep education for families Stabilization of late preterm or borderline infants before transfer if needed Emergency Management Skills Neonatal stabilization prior to transport (NRP-level skills) Maternal emergency stabilization (PE, eclampsia, hemorrhage, sepsis) Shoulder dystocia support and documentation Initial response to OB traumas before transfer Participation in mock codes and drills (PPH, neonatal resuscitation, maternal code) Cross Training & General Caring for antepartum patients for short-term observation. Qualifications

Requires 1 year RN experience. Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. Why Join IU Health?
