About the role

The Medical Assistant supports residential treatment services by supervising clients and assisting with medical and administrative functions for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT). Key duties include obtaining vital signs, conducting toxicology screenings, and documenting medication dispensing.

  • Schedule: Full-time | Tuesday- Saturday 7am to 3pm or Sunday- Thursday 2pm-10pm

Position Summary

The Medication Specialist plays an essential role in the delivery of residential treatment services. This position is responsible for supporting Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) services by assisting with medication-related processes, monitoring client health status, and ensuring accurate documentation while providing compassionate support to individuals throughout their recovery journey.

Essential duties & responsibilities

Complete client observations during MAT hours and maintain therapeutic client interactions.

Obtain and document vital signs, blood sugars, urine specimens, and report significant medical concerns to leadership.

Conduct toxicology screening processes, including specimen collection, laboratory documentation, and communicating results to the treatment team.

Observe and document medication dispensing by pharmacy vendor technicians.

Verify admission documentation and maintain organized client records.

Monitor unit inventory and coordinate medication and medical supply needs.

Assist with client medical concerns, follow-up calls, payments, and educational materials.

Encourage client engagement in treatment and help maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment.

Complete required trainings and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education & experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in a substance use disorder, behavioral health, or residential treatment setting preferred.
  • Previous experience supporting medication administration, medical services, or client care is preferred.
  • Certifications
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications preferred.
