Certified Nursing Assistant

About the Role

• The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate and high-quality care to members (residents) at the Firefighter's Home (Home).
• This position focuses on assisting members with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity while supporting the nursing staff.
• The CNA will be responsible for monitoring members' health status, reporting changes to the nursing team, and providing emotional support to members and their families.
• By performing essential clinical and non-clinical tasks, the CNA contributes significantly to the overall member care experience and the efficient operation of healthcare facilities.
• This role requires a commitment to member-centered care, adherence to healthcare regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification recognized in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a state-approved CNA training program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
• Ability to pass a background check and meet health screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a CNA in a nursing home, or long-term care facility.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Strong communication skills and experience working with diverse patient populations.
• Ability to work well in a team setting

Responsibilities

• Assist members with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
• Measure and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure accurately.
• Help members move safely, including transferring them between beds, wheelchairs, and other locations.
• Observe and report any changes in members’ physical or emotional condition to the nursing staff promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients by following infection control protocols and facility policies.
• Support members emotionally by providing companionship and responding to their needs with empathy and respect.
• Assist nursing staff with medical procedures and documentation as directed.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.
