The Monitor Tech is responsible for continuous monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms of assigned patients. They must accurately identify and report arrhythmias and notify nursing staff of any changes witnessed on the monitors.
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with BLS certification and successful completion of specific training courses. One year of cardiac monitor technician experience and understanding of medical terminology are preferred.
Basic computer skills preferred Ability to read, write legibly, perform basic mathematical calculations as normally acquired through high school training Able to use paging systems, copy machines, computer, mobile scanning devices, printer, telephone, calculator and fax machines. Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations preferred Visual perception and manual dexterity to perform collection procedures Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment without being easily distracted Must be able to communicate with many different levels of hospital personnel, often handling communications about many different situations at once.
