Mercy Hospital’s Coronary Care Unit (CCU) cares for patients that have been admitted from the Emergency Department and doctor’s office or are overflow patients from the Cardiovascular Surgery Unit (CVU).
These patients typically have had a heart attack or are experiencing chest pain.
Some of the procedures on this unit include stints, cath lab procedures, balloon pumps, ECMO, and pacers.
The CCU is a loyal, fast-paced unit that holds safety and quality in the highest regard and empowers caregivers to speak up.
This unit is known for its high patient satisfaction ratings, low turnover and longevity, and shared love for the adrenaline this unit and work provides.
As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey.
You will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.
00AM – 7:30PM or 7:00PM – 7:00AM, with weekend and holiday requirements.
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families.
• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
