Overview of the Position
The Medical Assistant is an essential member of the patient center medical home team. The Medical Assistant is responsible for coordination of care between the patient and medical provider, while helping support the clinical team with effective and efficient delivery of health care services. This position will be located at various locations as assigned.
Education and Experience
Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited school
National CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) certification required
BLS certification required
Required Skills / Abilities
Maintain current general medical knowledge.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, and guest.
Ability to take initiative and handle various task simultaneously
Knowledge of policies, procedures, regulations, and protocols
Knowledge of data bases (ex: EMR systems)
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
Familiar with medication names and usage
Medical terminology
At least two years of experience in a physician’s office

Additional Requirements
As a participant in the Floater Staffing Pool, the medical Assistant will be available upon requested by HopeHealth, Inc. to work at any given location on the basis of staffing needs. As such must adhere to the same employment requirements as other staff of HopeHealth, Inc.
As a participant in the Floater staffing pool, the Medical Assistant – Float will work where assigned and communicate any difficulties with their direct supervisor or designee.
The Medical Assistant – Float is compensated at the agreed upon hourly rate; plus mileage if applicable. Travel is paid based on the HopeHealth reimbursement policy and assigned base location for mileage purposes. (All mileage is due to your direct supervisor by end of business on payroll Friday to ensure required approval signatures.)
The Medical Assistant – Float is responsible for travel to the locations as assigned; therefore must have reliable transportation to remain in the Floater staffing pool.
The Medial assistant – Float must be available to work between Monday – Friday from 7:30 am to 6:00; you may also be asked to work Access Hope which hours are Monday – Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm. Your hours will be adjusted to if you are scheduled to work an Access Hope shift. Access hope shifts will rotate amongst the Floater Staffing Pool as appropriate.
HopeHealth, Inc. reserves the right to alter and/or cancel this Floater Staffing Pool at any time in its sole and absolute discretion.

Essential Job Functions
Assist the medical provider in the evaluation and treatment of clients to include patient intake, taking and recording of vital signs, diagnostic procedures, and lab work.
Assist with medication refills when needed
Facilitates efficient patient flow and room turnover
Keeps work area neat, tidy, and well supplied.
Stocks exam room with supplies daily
Performs data entry task for reporting purposes
Responds to phone calls in timely manner
Performs practice specific duties in accordance with recommended guidelines
Participation in training opportunities to enhance knowledge such as conferences, and continuing education/in-service events
Utilizes data systems to assist with chart prep prior to patients appointment
Develops and maintains working knowledge of all equipment needed to perform
Duties
Ability to understand and administer vaccines and immunizations to pediatric and/or adult patients.
Effective communication with other healthcare entities, departments, and guest
Manage and maintain medical records
Schedule appointments
Provide appropriate education to patient and/or patient’s family
Ability to help in other offices when needed(may include travel)
Helps maintain medical supply inventory
Assist in training new medical assistants to the organization in the standard working procedures of HopeHealth

Visual acuity adequately to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.

Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds unassisted in normal daily activities and up to 30 lbs. for other required work activities. Additionally, requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (especially if keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
