The SRT Assistant supports the delivery of non-invasive skin cancer treatments by preparing equipment and positioning patients according to physician protocols. They also manage treatment scheduling, provide patient education, and maintain accurate clinical documentation within the EMR system.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, medical assistant training, and 2-3 years of medical clinic experience. Specific experience in dermatology, Mohs surgery, and radiation therapy (SRT) is required.
The Superficial Radiation Therapy (SRT) Assistant/Tech plays a critical, patient-facing role in supporting the delivery of non-invasive skin cancer treatments. This position works closely with the supervising physician to coordinate, prepare, and execute SRT treatment workflows while ensuring a high standard of patient care, safety, and operational efficiency. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented Medical Assistant who can effectively manage scheduling, patient communication, and clinical documentation within a fast-paced dermatology setting. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Support Assist the physician during SRT treatments by preparing treatment rooms and ensuring all equipment is ready for use Position patients accurately for treatment in accordance with physician direction and established protocols Support the physician in implementing prescribed treatment plans Ensure proper shielding, safety measures, and patient comfort during procedures Treatment Coordination & Scheduling Manage and maintain the SRT treatment schedule, including initial consultations and follow-up appointments Coordinate multi-visit treatment plans, ensuring accuracy and continuity of care Optimize scheduling to maximize efficiency while maintaining patient experience Patient Communication & Education Serve as a primary point of contact for SRT patients throughout their treatment journey Provide clear instructions regarding treatment expectations, pre/post-care, and follow-up Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy Documentation & Scribing Accurately scribe physician notes during patient visits and treatments Maintain detailed and compliant documentation within the EMR system Track treatment progress and ensure all required documentation is complete and up to date Protocol & Workflow Management Maintain and uphold SRT protocols, ensuring consistency and compliance with clinical standards Assist in the development and refinement of workflows to improve efficiency and patient care Monitor supply levels and coordinate with leadership for inventory needs QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma required or GED is required. Certification Preferred (i.e., Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Dermatology Technician, etc.) Medical Assistant training is required.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in a medical clinic. Dermatology and/or Mohs surgery experience required. Experience with radiation therapy or SRT is required. Strong understanding of EMR systems (e.g., EMA, NextGen). Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
