The Veterinary Assistant will support the Radiation Oncology Service by monitoring anesthesia and performing clinical tasks like venipuncture and diagnostic imaging. They are also responsible for client communication, patient scheduling in the EMR, and collaborating with the oncology team to implement treatment plans.
VCA Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center of Kalamazoo is excited to be launching its new Radiation Oncology Service and is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for our new team!
Our Radiation Oncology Service: At VCA VSECK, our radiation oncology team designs an individualized treatment plan for each pet patient using the most advanced and effective treatments available – much like those used in human medicine.
With Varian TrueBeam™ technology at VCA VSECK, we are committed to the future of radiation therapy for our patients.
We provide definitive intent and palliative intent radiation treatments as well as quality of life monitoring.
Skills that our veterinary assistant will utilize, but are not limited to, include: Anesthesia monitoring Creating individualized anesthetic protocols in collaboration with Radiation Oncologist and licensed veterinary technician Collecting patient histories Client communication via phone and email Discharging patients Physical examinations and patient assessment Venipuncture/IVC placement Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging Hands free radiology Pharmacy Patient recovery Obtaining records Scheduling patients in EMR Work collaboratively with team members of all hospital services Schedule: Full-time, 5x 8 hours shifts, weekdays (Monday-Friday) Compensation: $18 - $31 / hour dependent on experience and skill set Qualifications: Proficient in anesthesia monitoring and administration Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills (Please take a moment to view our short video on technician life at VCA from a technician's point of view) https://vimeo.com/684755121/10c909cbf5 What Makes VCA Kalamazoo Unique?
