Provide specialized outpatient nutrition assessment and intervention for children and young adults with eating disorders. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of therapists and medical providers to monitor nutritional risk and deliver developmentally appropriate care.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field, registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, and a Georgia Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist license. Candidates need 4 years of pediatric clinical nutrition experience, including at least 2 years specializing in eating disorders.
We’re looking for a true All-Star Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary Behavioral & Mental Health team and help change the trajectory of kids’ lives. In this role you will provide specialized outpatient nutrition assessment and intervention for children, adolescents, and young adults (up to age 21) with eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and ARFID. You will deliver non-stigmatizing, developmentally appropriate nutrition care across the weight spectrum, including individualized meal planning, growth curve and malnutrition assessment, weight restoration/stabilization goals, and evaluation of compensatory exercise behaviors. You'll collaborate closely with therapists, psychologists, psychiatry providers, and consulting medical providers to monitor nutritional and medical risk while utilizing standardized eating disorder measures, and helping to determine appropriate level of care. Additionally, this role provides ongoing nutrition counseling, meal support/coaching, and caregiver-focused interventions, as well as food exposures as appropriate as informed by Family-Based Treatment (FBT), CBT, and CBT-E. Schedule is 20 hours/week with flexibility Monday - Friday, including at least one later clinic day to accommodate after-school appointments. Participates as interdisciplinary patient care team member to provide nutritional services and education to meet needs of identified patient population within the scope of the medical center’s mission and values. Experience 4 years of experience in pediatric clinical nutrition. Candidate may apply up to 2 years of adult inpatient nutrition support experience to meet the 4-year requirement.
Specialty certification encouraged in Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), or other Commission on Dietetic Registration specialty certification Minimum 2 years’ experience providing nutrition care to patients with eating disorders, preferably in pediatric or adolescent settings. Experience with Family-Based Treatment (FBT)–informed, CBT, or CBT-E–informed nutrition interventions and a non-stigmatizing, developmentally appropriate approach to care across the weight spectrum. Education Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, Medical Dietetics, or related field Certification Summary Registration in good standing with the Commission on Dietetic Registration Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist in Georgia Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Job Responsibilities Determines nutritional assessment using age and developmentally appropriate standards. Recommends appropriate medical nutritional therapy for assigned patients and evaluates response to medical nutritional therapy and determines change. Instructs patient and family related to nutritional therapy which incorporates age-appropriate developmental standards. Includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family. Advises groups related to pediatric nutritional therapy and community nutrition as required. Implements departmental standards for documenting all aspects of work-related activities. Participates as member of interdisciplinary team. Directs and evaluates dietetic interns/students. Maintains professional development responsibilities. Performs other responsibilities as required, including but not limited to committee involvement and participations.
