About the role

The technician is responsible for performing routine and complex technical procedures and ensuring the acceptability of specimens for testing. They must monitor instrumentation, report accurate results, and maintain a safe work environment through quality control and preventative maintenance.

Labcorp is seeking a Technician to join our team in Hot Springs, AR

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

  • Job Responsibilities
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology

Preferred Qualification

  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • 6 months or more of previous clinical laboratory testing experience
  • 6 months or more of phlebotomy experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • Additional Job Standards
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO. Candidates must have at least an Associate's degree in Chemical/Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree, ASCP or AMT certification, and experience in clinical laboratory testing or phlebotomy.
