• A Clinical Nurse II (CN II) is a competent clinician who provides nursing care in a skilled and effective manner.
• A CNII independently prioritizes and delivers dependable and effective patient care in a variety of patient situations by applying nursing process and appropriate decision-making skills.
• A CNII exhibits competence in the technical, interpersonal and cognitive skills required to independently and safely manage routine patient assignment.
• The Clinical Nurse II begins to develop their mentorship abilities under the leadership of experienced and expert clinicians on their unit.
• Drives the mentee-mentor relationship to identify gaps in skills, practice and knowledge to achieve desired goals.

• Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides and accurately documents direct and indirect patient care services that ensures the safety, comfort, and protection of patients in a timely manner.
• Provides patient care, family teaching and patient education on disease prevention and restorative measures
• Provides direct and indirect care services, including, but not limited to, the administration of medications and therapeutic agents necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitative plan of care
• Administers immunizations, IM/subcutaneous injections, IV, and/or oral medications
• Utilizes the nursing process to perform, coordinate and supervise patient assessments and provide nursing interventions
• Demonstrates critical thinking and performance in the coordination, implementation and documentation of patient care consistently performs according to the standards of the profession
• Plans and implements individualized patient care based on observations. Implements appropriate reporting, referrals and care in accordance with standardized procedures. Initiates emergency procedures when indicated
• Provides care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. Identifies patient’s readiness for learning and ability to follow directions/instructions and give consent
• Triages patient phone calls by assessing symptoms and addressing patient concerns, while seeking advice from providers.
• Performs phlebotomy and prepares designated lab work and/or specimens.
• Carries out providers’ orders in a safe manner
• Performs vital signs, reconciliation of medications and assessment of chief complaints in the patient’s medical records
• Perform designated diagnostic tests and procedures (i.e. stress test, dobutamine stress test, cardiopulmonary exercise test, bubble/contrast studies, etc.)
• Assists and coordinates with front office staff with follow-up scheduling needs
