The Operating Room Assistant will assist with patient positioning and monitor traction devices, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques. They will also manage OR supply inventory and assist with room turnover.

In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Operating Room Assistant, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will provide patient care tasks, in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Functions within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Organization.
Assists with placing patient in the designated surgical position (e.g. supine, prone, lateral, lithotomy).
Monitor positioning and traction devices as appropriate.
Verifies integrity of sterile packaging and sterilization indicators.
Open sterile supplies and instruments using aseptic technique.
Assists with room turnover.
Adheres to aseptic technique principles.
Maintains OR supply inventory and linen.
All other duties as assigned.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with effective communication skills and previous healthcare experience preferred. BLS healthcare provider training is also required.
