The role involves serving as a Sub-Investigator to ensure the safety of clinical trial participants and conduct medical assessments. Responsibilities include evaluating participants based on protocol criteria and collaborating with neurologists to advance dementia research.
Requires a current and unencumbered NP or PA license in Massachusetts and experience with adult and geriatric populations. Prior experience in neurology, dementia, or clinical research is strongly preferred.
Ensure the safety and welfare of clinical trial participants Conduct medical history reviews and physical examinations Evaluate potential study participants according to protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria Review EKGs, laboratory results, and other clinical assessments Provide medical oversight and care throughout study participation Develop strong rapport with dementia patients and caregivers through compassionate communication Collaborate closely with neurologists, research coordinators, and sponsor representatives Maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned research protocols Attend Investigator Meetings on behalf of the Principal Investigator as needed Support high-quality data collection and protocol compliance Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and strong patient-centered communication
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant preferred; willing to consider new graduates Current and unencumbered NP or PA license in the state of Massachusetts required Experience working with adult and geriatric patient populations required Prior experience caring for patients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, neurology, geriatrics, psychiatry, primary care, or related specialties strongly preferred Clinical research experience preferred, but not required Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with cognitively impaired patients and caregivers Highly organized with strong attention to detail Professional, dependable, and collaborative demeanor Passion for direct patient interaction and advancing medical research Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment About Headlands Research Headlands Research is a leading integrated clinical trial site network with a mission to improve lives by advancing innovative medical therapies.
