Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited professional nursing program with a valid state nursing license and CPR certification. A bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience in psychiatric or behavioral health are preferred.
Sierra Vista Hospital is seeking an Admissions Registered Nurse for the Nursing Department. The Sierra Vista Hospital location, a 171-bed psychiatric care facility located in south Sacramento, is a full-service mental health facility and a center of support for patients and their families. Since 1986, we have offered our clinical expertise to those suffering from emotional, behavioral and addiction problems.
The Admission Nurse is a licensed Registered Nurse responsible for ensuring that the admission and discharge processes are executed efficiently and accurately. This role involves applying the nursing process within established standards of care, mental health practices, and hospital policies. This position also ensures that admissions are managed and completed timely and thoroughly to support optimal continuity of care. JOB DUTIES Admission Duties Conduct and document comprehensive initial Nursing Assessment, including admission summaries in patient progress notes. Identify and document priority mental and medical problems, including need for detoxification when indicated. Verify medication orders and laboratory requisitions in physical chart and electronic health record. Obtain additional admission orders from physicians and document appropriately. Initiate and contribute to the Multidisciplinary Treatment Plan by outlining problems, objectives, goals, and interventions based on assessment data. Collaborate with unit staff to conduct patient search and inventory of clothing and valuables according to hospital policy and procedure. General Duties Attend and actively assist during rapid responses and emergency codes to ensure patient safety and effective response. Flexibly adjust assignments as necessary to meet the dynamic needs of the hospital, including but not limited to overseeing outside visitation hour (OVH), assisting unit staff, and/or assignment to specific roles on the unit. Provide assistance and guidance to Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to ensure compliance with nursing standards and quality care as directed by house supervisor and nursing leadership. Perform any additional duties as assigned by nursing leadership to support department and organizational objectives.
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program required; bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years experience as a registered nurse in psychiatric or behavioral health setting preferred.
