About the role

The sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality renal, scrotal, penile, and female pelvic ultrasound studies in a fast-paced specialty environment. They must produce optimal image resolution and accurately complete diagnostic assessments while managing a high patient volume.

Job Title – Position Description: Sonographer

Reports to: Manager Diagnostics Services

MISSION

The sonographer is responsible for delivering quality patient care by performing optimal renal, scrotal, penile, and female pelvic ultrasound studies in a fast-paced specialty environment.

Outcomes

Produce optimal image resolution and accurately complete diagnostic assessment for each ultrasound study in a high patient volume setting.

Consistently manages work load efficiently with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.

Exhibit sound critical thinking skills to ensure high quality patient ultrasound studies, to prioritize responsibilities, and to communicate with ancillary staff clearly and concisely.

Education

• Certificate from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program

Previous, Job Relevant Work Experience

  • Two years of sonographer experience
  • Strong working knowledge of abdominal and pelvic anatomy and pathology

Credentials/Licensures

• Active license in American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), with specialty physics and abdomen/small parts

Preferred Qualifications

Education

• Associates/Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Previous, Job Relevant Work Experience

  • 3+ years of sonographer experience
  • Previous experience in a Urology/Gynecology outpatient and/or hospital setting
  • Working knowledge of Konica Minolta Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) The Exa™
  • Working knowledge of eClinical Works or similar Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system

Credentials/Licensures • Gynecology

  • ARDMS specialties in OB/GYN
  • Urology: ARDMS specialties in Abdomen/Small Parts

Requirements

Candidates must have a certificate from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and an active ARDMS license. A minimum of two years of experience in sonography with strong knowledge of abdominal and pelvic anatomy is required.
