Provide nurse triage support and direct clinical care for pediatric patients in a specialty clinic. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs via phone, managing prescriptions, and performing in-clinic procedural tasks.
Requires a nursing degree (BSN, Associate's, or Diploma) and current RN licensure in North Carolina. Candidates must have at least twelve months of both general clinical experience and pediatric-specific experience, along with BLS certification.

Provide nurse triage support for selected group of Children’s Specialty providers. Assessing patient needs via phone or inbasket when answering calls/messages. Assess medications and submit prescription refills to pharmacy based on standing orders, Initiating and following up on prior authorization submissions to insurance. Facilitating peer to peer reviews as needed. Documentation in electronic health record. Completing procedural tasks in clinic as needed including: collecting patient vital signs, medication review, administering vaccinations and insulin injections according to protocols and provider orders, ambulatory BP monitoring, specimen collection and correct labeling, assisting with clinic performed, provide patient/family education, bill for nursing procedures. Documentation of medications, vaccines, assessments in electronic health record. Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources. Once oriented to the role: act as charge nurse on a shift by shift basis including providing unit leadership, ability to triage patient phone calls/EHR messages, interpret, respond, route, and document appropriately. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Job Eligibility Requirements: Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date. Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. Twelve months of pediatric experience is required. Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
