In your role as Medical Assistant, you will report to the Clinic Manager.
Your responsibilities will include assisting clinic physicians, physician assistant and nurse practitioners in the care of patients in a family practice/primary care environment.

Duties
Perform chart prep activities per current checklist in advance of patient visit to ensure complete records available
Assist in ensuring previous test results and procedure results are present and documented accurately in the EMR
Welcome patients by greeting them in person or on the telephone
Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, confirming purpose of visit
Perform preliminary physical tests; take blood pressure, weight and temperature; document patient history summary
Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, keeping patient information confidential
As directed by provider, provide educational information to patients and instructions, answering questions
Evaluate need for and perform Tobacco, SHA, TB, Audit C, PHQ2 and all required screenings by monitoring the CDSS
Record and reconcile current medications and allergies
Document all information accurately and completely in the electronic medical record.
Set up procedure trays as needed
Notify provider of needed screenings and assist provider with patient examination or procedure as directed
Provide, monitor, log and appropriately document patient immunizations as ordered by the provider, and within the scope of MA practice
Ensure two-person verification of all immunizations prior to giving and signing off
Perform and record daily quality controls on point of care testing as needed
Perform laboratory specimen collection tasks, preparing specimens for transport to laboratory
Perform POC laboratory testing as ordered by provider
Provide instructions and educational materials to patients as instructed by the provider
Clean and restock patient examination rooms between patient use
Responds to patient requests for prescription refills, verifying whether refills are available or routing to provider for follow-up
Assist with follow-up on referrals as directed and communicates with referrals team
Monitor inventory and report supply needs to supervisor
Discharge patient after provider completes visit by providing Visit Summary and assisting with scheduling follow-up visits

High School Diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program recognized by the state of California
Minimum of 1 year of experience
BLS (American Heart Association)
Certification/Registered Medical Assistant preferred
