Therapist - Substance Use Disorders

• Required Education and Experience for Therapist - LMHP Master's degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field and licensure in the State of Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
• One year of program-specific work experience or relevant education indicates the individual possesses the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Required Education and Experience for Therapist - LMHP-E Master's degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field and registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling for clinical supervision working toward licensure.
• One year of experience working with identified populations served is preferred.
• Eligible to register as an LMHPE with the VA Board of Counseling after hire.
• Must have valid driver's license and ability to drive.
• Alleghany Highlands Community Services provides services and support to individuals in our community with behavioral health challenges and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• This position is primarily responsible for providing substance use outpatient therapy to adults and families.
• Completes intakes and assessments on individuals and families referred to the agency for substance use services.
• Work directly with the intake team and mental health substance use team and follow recommendations as a result of psychiatric evaluations.

Responsibilities

Provide substance therapy and outpatient substance abuse services for adults and families at the agency who have been referred by an outside agency or by self-referral to address substance abuse and/or mental health issues Facilitate Substance Use Intensive Outpatient and Medically Assisted Treatment groups as well as Individual therapy for those in Substance Use programs. Assist with development of Substance Use programming to include diversity awareness of gender, race, sexual orientation, etc, interim services for pregnant women and women with dependent children, individuals with HIV, individuals with TB, and individuals injecting substances. Develop treatment plans for the adults and families who are receiving substance use outpatient therapy and/or substance abuse group therapy to track progress in presenting problems and or behaviors. Conduct substance abuse intakes and assessments and orientation to services for adults and families who have been referred for therapy and substance abuse services.
