The GI Technician assists surgeons with technical equipment during simple and complex endoscopic procedures. They are also responsible for cleaning and maintaining endoscopes, managing patient flow, and handling room preparation and supplies.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and at least one year of experience in a GI Lab. Current BLS certification is required, while ACLS and experience in an ambulatory surgical center are preferred.

The GI Technician/Endoscopy operates under the direct supervision of a surgeon to assist with the operation of technical equipment used during both simple and complex endoscopic procedures. The physician, registered nurse, and GI technician collaborate in the procedure room to create ideal conditions for achieving positive patient outcomes. The GI technician is also responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining endoscopes and other instruments. Additional duties of the GI technician include managing patient flow, preparing the room for procedures, stocking supplies, ordering materials, and handling various clerical tasks.
