The Occupational Therapist or COTA will instruct and assist patients in performing functional activities and exercises while administering therapy treatments according to established protocols. They will also communicate effectively with healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Occupational Therapy program and hold a valid license in Nebraska. BLS certification is also required.
Description Sidney Regional Medical Center has an immediate opening for an Occupational Therapist (OT) or a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) within our Rehabilitation department.

Instruct, motivate, and assist patient to perform various functional activities and exercises. Administer Occupational therapy treatment per protocol and guidelines set forth by Federal and State regulations. Review Physician’s referral (prescriptions), patient’s condition, and medical records to determine occupational therapy treatment required. Perform tests and measures patients’ strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, cognition, and activities of daily living. Record findings to develop or revise treatment programs. Record treatment, response, and progress in patient charts or enter information into computer. Transcribe and carry out physician’s orders in a correct and timely manner. Recognize and question inconsistencies in medical orders or treatment regimen. Confer with Physician and other Practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment programs and interpret Occupational Therapy treatment with other aspects of patient’s health care. Communicate effectively between patient, patient’s family, Physicians, and other staff members of the Healthcare Team in evaluation of care to ensure continuity of care. Plan and conduct lectures and training programs on Occupational Therapy and related topics for medical staff, other health care professionals, students and community groups as delegated. Other duties as assigned by management. Education & Experience Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
