Responsible for the accurate gross description, dissection, and processing of biopsies and tissue specimens according to established protocols. Additionally supports the histology department with H&E, special, and immunohistochemistry stains.
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree and prefers one year of practical laboratory experience. Candidates must have knowledge of CLIA regulations, medical terminology, and skill in gross dissection.
Responsible for the accurate gross description, dissection and processing of biopsies, margins and tissue specimens according to established protocols. Help Histology department performing H and E stain, special Stains and/or Immunohistochemistry Stains.
• 1 year of practical laboratory experience preferred.
Computers, computer programs, information system(s), forceps, rulers, tissue dyes, scalpel or razor blades, tissue processors, IHC Stainer and personal protective equipment.
Knowledge of CLIA regulations regarding proficiency testing, quality assurance and quality control. Knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures, equipment, and testing to monitor control checks. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Skill in gross dissection. Skill in using computer programs and applications. Skill in performing a full range of laboratory tests and operating a variety of laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Ability to listen, read, understand, and follow oral, and written instruction. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with employees, physicians, vendors, clients, and external agencies.
