Provide acute clinical care and comprehensive assessments for patients undergoing Interventional Radiology procedures. Manage pre- and post-examination care, including sedation and emergency response, while documenting all patient interactions.
Requires a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in acute or critical care hospital settings. Must hold current NP practice in Critical Care or Radiology and possess BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
Interventional Radiology (IR) Nurse practitioners (NP) involve acute clinical care preparation of patients prior to procedure through comprehensive assessments, clinical work-up, and follow up care.
Delivers general nursing care to patients in all areas of the Radiology/Imaging Department, assesses patient condition and takes immediate action in emergencies. Responds to patient needs before, during and after procedures including assessment of condition, cardiac arrest, and intravenous problems. Perform pre-examination and post-examination assessments for angiography, CT scan and minor special procedures, including physical exam with extremity pulses, allergies, current medication and medical history which would have an adverse effect on the patient
or exam and sedation analgesia. Educate patients and families about pre, intra and post procedure care. Documents care and relay information to physician and patient care unit. Follows established standards and practices under the direction of a credentialed radiologist.
