About the role

The person in this position provides services to the following populations: Adults (Eighteen to seventy-five-year-olds) and Geriatrics (Seventy-five years and older)

Qualifications

*Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution. *Comprehensive knowledge of occupational therapy treatment procedures. *Licensure by the Georgia State Board of Examiners of Occupational Therapy. *NOTE: BLS within 30 days.

Qualifications

"Area of Responsibilities *Completes discharge summaries in a timely manner, in accordance with current policy. *Coordinates occupational therapy treatment with other hospital personnel as appropriate. *Delegates treatment implementation appropriately, based on the type of treatment prescribed and level of training of support personnel. Instructs nursing and other staff in follow through activities as indicated. *Evaluates patients and develops appropriate treatment plans to include time defined therapy goals, in accordance with physician established plan of care. *Practices good communication skills with patient and family members. Recognizes potential problems or request of patients and/or family and reacts appropriately. *Assists other staff members in patient care activities. *Complies with standards set forth by TJC and other regulating agencies. *Consults with other departments to improve quality and efficiency of patient care. *Demonstrates competency in patient care according to the age of the patient and population served. a. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient's needs. b. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development. c. Demonstrates understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients (age and diagnosis). *Demonstrates dependability on the job. Reports to work on time. Notifies supervisor of unscheduled absences as soon as possible. Organizes work schedule effectively. *Develops home programs and discharge plans under direct supervision of licensed occupational therapist (with input from patients and families). *Maintains confidentiality. *Maintains patient records to include all required documentation, legibly written and completed within assigned time frames. *Participates in in-service educational programs. *Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities as requested. *Performs clerical duties as assigned. *Performs other activities as assigned. *Supervises occupational therapy assistants, therapy aids, and student interns in accordance with established guidelines.

Compliance Statement Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.

Effect Of Error Probable errors not easily detected and may adversely affect external as well as internal relationships and may result in major expenditures for equipment, materials, or procedures detrimental to the patient?s welfare or the organization?s interest. Work is subject to general review only and requires considerable accuracy and responsibility. Continually works with reports, records, plans, and programs of a major functional area of the organization where integrity is required to safeguard the organization?s position. Duties may involve the preparation of data on which the administration bases important decisions and are highly confidential.

Physical Effort Considerable physical effort - Lifts, carries, or handles medium weight equipment, materials, or supplies most of day. Occasional physical effort with heavy objects (over 60 lbs.). Works in reaching or strained positions frequently.

Working Conditions Minor - Occasionally involved in exposure to dirt, odors, noise, or some work is performed with exposure to temperature/weather extremes/occupational risk and probability of coming into contact with blood borne pathogens, other potentially infectious diseases, or biomedical/bio-hazardous materials.

Requirements
