Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing and current Nurse Practitioner certification and licensure in the State of Maryland. Candidates must be a Registered Nurse with advanced clinical knowledge to manage complex patient cases.
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner who will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to optimize team performance and patient outcomes and is responsible for providing comprehensive and age-appropriate care to both well and/or ill patients. The Nurse Practitioner educates patients and/or intervenes in acute or chronic illness. The Nurse Practitioner practices within the guidelines of the unit department, and institution and in accordance with the Nurse Practitioner- Physician Written Agreement required and approved by the State of Maryland.
Use advanced clinical and theoretical knowledge to identify acute and/or chronic health problems through a comprehensive, age-appropriate assessment of patients/families. Provide evidence-based care and provide patient education for self-care chronic disease management. Effectively use resources. Prioritize and organize work to meet the changing priorities of the functional unit and/or cost center. Coordinate and make decisions regarding patient care within scope of authority. Triage phone calls and electronic advice requests from patients and determine need for medical assessment. Assess lab results and implement intervention in consultation with primary providers and medical director. Provide guidance and direction to other unit staff where applicable to promote quality, safety, and excellence in care. Analyze findings and apply conclusions, as appropriate, to improve the management of patient care. Identify care continuity needs of patients. Participate in quality improvement/patient safety projects. Coordinate care for a group of primary complex patients to achieve clinical and organizational outcomes. Other clinical duties as assigned.
Master's Degree in Nursing; Registered Nurse license and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner. Must be licensed as NP in the State of Maryland. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
