  • Shift: Day ShiftSummary The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, assists in providing physical therapy services. The PT assistant follows the treatment plan established by the physical therapist to meet patient’s treatment goals. Essential Functions Assists in implementing and follows the physical therapy plan of care. Observes and reports patient responses to treatment. Prepares work materials and assists in maintaining treatment areas and equipment in satisfactory operating condition. Maintains a safe environment. Documents all patient care in accordance with organizational policies and state practice act. Completes billing for all patient care in accordance with organizational policies, state practice act and federal laws Performs clerical activities related to physical therapy services. Assesses the patient’s environment and makes recommendations for home, school or work environment modifications if needed. Advise on patients’ durable medical equipment needs Provides patient education on exercise, home programs, DME as outlined in the plan of care Communicate with care teams, patients, families and caregivers effectively Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care. Physical Requirements, Safety, and Environmental Conditions Sits, stands, bends, lifts, walks, and moves intermittently during working hours and ability to lift up to 20 lbs. Follows safe work practices, takes an active interest in preventing injuries or illness and promoting a safe and healthful environment for self and others, and complies with Hospital and governmental safety regulations. Professional Development Promotes professional growth of self and co-workers by participating in on-the-job training, continuing education, and assisting with training of new employees. Compliance Assumes personal responsibility to comply with all Federal, State and local laws governing business conduct, conducts business in an ethical and trustworthy manner, and displays the qualities and characteristics of a professional at all times when dealing with patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and fellow employees. Exemplifies the Seneca Core Values in all aspects of work responsibilities and demonstrates these values to fellow employees and supervisors. Quality of Work Assumes responsibility for professional customer service when working with the public, physicians, and other departments. Strives for excellence in following policies and procedures. Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program and licensed by the CA Board of Physical Therapy. A current CPR certification is also required.
