The Physician Assistant is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing care for oncology patients, including performing procedures and providing patient education. Additional duties include case management, palliative care, and mentoring new advanced practice providers.
Candidates must have completed an accredited Physician Assistant program, hold NCCPA certification, and possess a current state license. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferably in oncology, and BLS/CPR certification are required.

and Duties: Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients. Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated. Performs procedures with minimal supervision. Assesses patient/family needs and provides education. Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs. Often incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice. Solid knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements. Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion. Likely to provide case management for patients and their families. Sometimes serves as a resource for nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials. May provide palliative care for the patient and their families as needed. May promote/provide staff education Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals, weekend or after-hour calls May mentor new advanced practice providers May precept APP students Other duties as assigned
WEducation and Experience: Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification. This position typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferably in the chosen specialty. Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
