Marymount Hospital’s Adult Medical Emergency Team (AMET) responds to codes and rapid responses, providing urgent care to patients at risk of clinical deterioration.

The AMET team performs critical interventions including CPR, intubation, defibrillation, and emergency medication administration.

All nurses hired into the AMET role work both on the AMET and in a clinical capacity within the Intensive Care Units (ICUs), and they also participate in education and quality improvement initiatives.

The AMET RN delivers early intervention during potential life-threatening events, bringing critical care expertise directly to the bedside to improve patient outcomes.

As an RN on this team, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient journey, interacting directly with patients and families to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.

A caregiver in this position works rotating day/night shifts from 7

00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will

Provide direct nursing care.

Implement and monitor patient care plans.

Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.

Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes

Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns

Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol

Minimum Qualifications

for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • One year current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting
  • Will consider military RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of employment
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of hire for roles that support pediatric patients

Preferred Qualifications

for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
