Position Overview: Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is currently seeking a Registered Nurse (ED/ER) to fill an opening at a hospital located in Metairie, LA. This role focuses on providing rapid assessment, critical interventions, and compassionate care to patients presenting with acute illnesses, trauma, and medical emergencies in a fast-paced emergency department setting. Key Responsibilities: Perform rapid triage assessments using the ESI (Emergency Severity Index) to prioritize patient care based on acuity level. Manage a diverse patient population presenting with conditions such as chest pain, stroke, respiratory distress, sepsis, trauma, fractures, abdominal pain, psychiatric emergencies, and overdose. Initiate and titrate emergency medications (vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, thrombolytics, etc.) according to physician orders and protocols. Perform and interpret EKGs, obtain lab specimens, and initiate IV access (including ultrasound-guided IVs when applicable). Assist with resuscitative efforts including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), defibrillation, airway management (including BVM and assisting with intubation), and hemorrhage control. Coordinate care with emergency physicians, trauma surgeons, respiratory therapists, radiology, and lab staff to expedite diagnostics and treatment. Monitor patients receiving continuous cardiac telemetry, oxygen therapy, BiPAP, or mechanical ventilation. Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, discharge instructions (including medications, follow-up, and warning signs), and community resources. Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the EMR. De-escalate agitated or psychiatric patients using appropriate behavioral and pharmacological interventions. Prepare patients for admission, transfer to higher level of care, or discharge, ensuring safe handoff communication.
