The Pre-Analytics Processing Technician is responsible for manually processing laboratory specimens, performing daily quality assurance activities, and maintaining equipment.

A caregiver in this position works evenings| 3:00pm—11:30pm A caregiver who excels in this role will: Perform advanced manual processing.
Interpret and accession reference lab specimens.
Collect and analyze data.
Perform body fluid processing using aseptic technique.
Conduct higher level accessioning in the Lab Information System (LIS).
Perform extensive manual processing for esoteric testing and non-Cleveland Clinic reference laboratories.
Perform all duties of the Laboratory Processing Technician II.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Associate’s degree (preferably in Science) Two years of lab experience OR a total of four years of experience as a Lab Technician or comparable processing experience may substitute the education requirement Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, physics or medical laboratory science (this may substitute two years of experience) Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques and to take measurements May require extended periods of standing, walking and/or sitting.
Handles and transports bio hazardous materials.
Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.
Must have normal or corrected vision.
Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as defined in the exposure control plan.
