The Admissions Nurse is responsible for performing initial assessments and screenings for clients entering the Detox Unit. Key duties include implementing physician orders, developing initial treatment plans, and coordinating care between clinical and medical teams.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school and hold a current State of Connecticut RN License. A minimum of one year of experience in mental health or substance abuse is preferred.
Assess clients thoroughly for admission. Accurately transcribe and implement physician’s orders. Assess clients withdrawing from substances using facility approved assessment scales. Develop appropriate and effective initial treatment plans for all active problems identified in the admission nursing assessment. Accurately complete medication reconciliations upon admission. Educate clients on medications, health maintenance, substance abuse, and other applicable topics. Perform searches of clients upon admission. Communicate client medical and behavioral changes and any special precautions to appropriate clinical and medical staff for ongoing intervention. Act as liaison between members of the Clinical Team and Medical Departments. Document in client medical record in an accurate and timely manner, according to facility requirements.
