The RN is responsible for coordinating patient and family care using the nursing process and critical thinking. Duties include delegating care activities, monitoring team performance, and incorporating evidence-based practices into daily routines.
Candidates must have completed an accredited nursing program and hold a valid Iowa nursing license. Required certifications include BLS, with ACLS, NIHSS, and stroke education required within specific timeframes after hire.
Delegates nursing care activities and monitors care given by appropriate care team members in accordance with patient needs, and the team member’s professional capabilities and qualifications. Supports use of Evidenced Based Practice and incorporates best practices into daily care routine. Assists in creating a positive work environment by mentoring of staff/students, and working with team members to develop and facilitate initiatives to strive for positive outcomes in quality and care of patients. Effectively communicates with all team members, physicians, ancillary staff and all customers. Complies with all policies and procedures, and guides team members with compliance. Compiles with all safety goals, infection prevention and risk management policies and procedures.
Education: Successfully completed an accredited nursing program required. All newly licensed RNs with less than six (6) months of acute RN experience at the time of application are required to successfully complete the Nurse Residency program BSN Preferred Experience: n/a License(s)/Certification(s): Valid Nursing License with authorization to work in Iowa required Basic Certified Life Support certification required Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 6 months from date of hire required. Must obtain NIHSS education within 90 days of hire and maintain every two years thereafter. Completion of six hours of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually required. Specialty certification is preferred.
