The Specimen Processor I is responsible for preparing and handling specimens by assigning tracking numbers, verifying identifiers, and ensuring proper labeling. They also manage associated paperwork and transport specimens to testing laboratories while maintaining strict compliance with data security and patient confidentiality.
A high school diploma or GED is required, with basic computer knowledge and data entry experience preferred. Candidates must be able to perform medium physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
A Specimen Processor I prepares and handles specimens received for testing.
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent required. 2. Data entry experience preferred. 3. Excellent organizational, communication, multitasking, and teamwork skills. 4. Detail oriented with the ability to multitask. 5. Basic computer knowledge needed.
Medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently.
Stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching, and repetitive motion. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
Exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humidity, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, and radiant energy hazards.
Duties performed routinely requires exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.
