Provide direct patient care and monitor changes in patient conditions under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. Maintain a safe environment, document care, and ensure the smooth functioning of the clinical department.
This list includes the needs to be met every shift however other duties may be assigned. Meets the needs of any patient in the department (ADL’s, messages, supplies and deliveries in a timely manner). Applies proper technique when performing duties within the scope of practice (FSBS, attaining V/S, ADL’s, Peri-care). Knowledge of and follows proper technique of colostomy and catheter care. Knowledgeable of correct set-up and functions of bladder scanners, incentive spirometer, and oxygen safety. Maintains cleanliness and neatness of storage/service areas in the department and patient rooms. Prepares and maintains patient’s medical record and charges while in the department ensuring confidentiality of all patient information. Assist in the orientation of department personnel. Communicates pertinent patient information to appropriate staff in a timely manner. Prepares and processes requisitions for housekeeping , maintenance and general supply needs and insures adequate par levels are maintained. Notifies appropriate department(s) for repairs. Participates in intra- and interdepartmental committee activities. Attends at least 80% of the monthly staff meetings. Completes mandatory in-services/competencies during specified times. Demonstrates positive working relationships with all health care customers. Adheres to Coffey Health System staffing and scheduling practices per personnel policy and nursing policy. Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to rights of patient/significant other, as identified with the institution. Functions with an awareness and application of safety issues as identified within the institution. Participates actively in educational activities for department, including orientation of new employees. Other duties may be assigned. Education/Experience: Required: Certified nursing assistant (CNA) who has successfully completed a healthcare program and has a current license to practice in the state of Kansas. Employee must have current BLS certification, or attain this certification by the end of their 90 day probationary period. This certification must be maintained during employment at Coffey Health System.
Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with a current Kansas license and BLS certification. High school diploma and experience with adult, geriatric, or acute care populations are preferred.
