About the role

The RN is responsible for the complete physical and psycho-social care of residents, coordinating between physicians, families, and nursing staff. Key duties include administering medications, performing body system assessments, and promoting resident independence and autonomy.

Primary Purpose

The RN has the responsibility for the complete care of the residents residing at Beaumont. RN must coordinate the care between the resident, physician, family and nursing staff. RN provides the necessary physical and psycho-social needs by maximizing the resident’s existing abilities, promoting independence, and creating an atmosphere of autonomy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Required to be cross-trained in all areas including Skilled Nursing, Personal Care and Wellness. Must be willing to work in all areas as needed.
  • Promotes each resident’s independence in their activities of daily living.
  • Respects and supports each resident’s choices regardless of personal beliefs.
  • Able to manage difficult situations with a resident.
  • Is respectful and supporting of the individual resident’s lifestyle and works with those preferences.
  • Respectful of each resident’s privacy and dignity and takes all measures to provide.
  • Safeguards all residents from abuse and reports any suspected cases.
  • Upholds all HIPAA regulations.
  • Upholds Federal and State regulations and standards of clinical practice.
  • Educates residents and families on medical concerns.
  • Promotes the Beaumont Mission of teamwork to achieve the highest quality of care and inspires the same in others.
  • Works collaboratively with all departments to promote a team effort in meeting resident’s needs.
  • Must be able to evacuate residents in an emergency.
  • Demonstrates solid body system assessment skills.
  • Demonstrates solid documentation skills. Timely, concise, objective and accurate.
  • Demonstrates the ability to receive and transcribe verbal and written MD orders.
  • Communicates verbally and through report to other nursing staff.
  • Establishes & maintains effective communication between nursing and administrative staff.
  • Shows the ability to set priorities, problem solve and manage difficult situations.
  • Communicates effectively between disciplines and teams.
  • Promotes and motivates positive employee relations by facilitating an atmosphere of open
  • communication, problem solving and teamwork.
  • Answers resident’s needs in a timely fashion regardless of assignment.
  • Promotes a positive, calm and effective work environment that contributes to teamwork,
  • and reduces inter-team conflict.
  • Demonstrates and practices infection control procedures.
  • Administers medication as needed and treatments according to standard nursing procedures.
  • Maintains medication knowledge that is based on sound gerontological practice.
  • Nursing procedure knowledge that is based on sound gerontological practice.
  • Diagnosis and treatment knowledge that is based on sound gerontological practice.
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of Beaumont Policy and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable and responds properly to fire/disaster and ILU elopement situations.
  • Shows ability to work independently and problem solve.

  • Qualifications/Skills
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN/LPN in this state.
  • Two years nursing experience preferred.
  • Must have current CPR certification.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objective, policies, and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
  • Must be patient, tactful and have a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Long periods of sitting and standing.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
  • Must be able to walk the entire campus.
  • Must be able to see and hear and use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at some times, hostile people within the facility.
  • Must be able to lift, push and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
  • Education
  • Successful completion of accredited RN Program.

Requirements
