Requires a high school diploma and graduation from an approved Medical Assistant program or current LPN enrollment. Must have one year of related experience or a completed externship, and obtain BLS and MA certification.
Medical assistants are responsible for providing physician support and ensuring the facility is running smoothly. This support is offered through many varied administrative tasks such as patient scheduling, assisting with referrals and authorizations, answering phones, filing, documenting, scanning, and faxing. Medical assistants also perform a variety of clinical duties such as preparing exam rooms, collecting patient vitals and specimens, assisting in minor surgical procedure injections, and other routine tasks as assigned.
One (1) year related medical office experience; or 160-hour externship completed within the last five years in a medical/office setting; or completion of first clinical rotation through LPN school.
