Provides clinical support to the operating room and anesthesia teams by preparing rooms, managing supplies, and assisting with patient positioning. Ensures efficiency and safety by maintaining equipment and facilitating rapid room turnover between surgical cases.
Requires a high school diploma and one year of hospital experience. Preferred qualifications include certifications as a CNA, CPCT/A, Medical Assistant, or EMT.
Provides clinical support to operating room and anesthesia by participating as a member of the interdisciplinary team under the supervision of a licensed professional. Proactively supports efforts to maintain efficiency, minimize delays, and ensure delivery of safe patient care. Inventories, cleans, and maintains operating room and anesthesia equipment/supplies, maintains a clean/orderly environment, and transports patients as required. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) or certification as a medical assistant or emergency medical technician One year of experience in a healthcare facility Knowledge of anesthesia and/or equipment Education High school diploma or equivalent Certification Summary No professional certifications required
Department-defined competencies within six months of employment Knowledge of surgical supplies, anesthesia equipment, and environmental cleaning Ability to work well with diverse team members Must be able to prioritize and organize workload using critical thinking skills Must be able to communicate effectively, show initiative and flexibility, and demonstrate team cohesiveness Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment Job Responsibilities .Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N = Neonate (less than 30 days) I = Infant (30 days to 1 year) EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years) LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years) A = Adolescent (13-17 years) AD = Adult ALL = all ages. Reads operating room schedule, anticipates needs, and sets up for respective case. Facilitates room turnover for cases to follow, including cleaning and preparation of room, equipment, and anesthesia components. Sets up, inventories, and restocks anesthesia and specialty carts to ensure all items are readily available. Inventories, orders, and maintains departmental supply stock consistent with departmental demand. Assists in lifting, turning, positioning, and preparing patients for surgical procedure, using proper body mechanics. Transports blood or specimens to laboratory. Escorts patients and families throughout hospital. Maintains hallways and equipment room by adhering to fire codes and keeping them orderly and free of obstruction. Maintains supplies in holding areas and keeps area free of clutter. Checks portable oxygen tanks daily and replaces if necessary. Achieves 75% attendance at staff meetings if applicable. Supports Joint Commission readiness.
