The Cardiac Monitor Technician has the knowledge and ability to assist the Registered Professional Nurse in the delivery of care through the proficient and constant monitoring of the patient's cardiac rhythm status and pulse oximetry. This is performed always showing sensitivity toward individual needs. Accepts responsibility for individual job requirements and performance, able to contribute to effective unit operations.

Responsibilities

• 1. MAJOR ACTIVITIES 1.1 Assists the nurse in monitoring patient's heart rhythm and pulse oximetry 2. Uses a pleasant tone of voice. 10. Maintains a clean and safe environment 10.1 Keeps work area safe and clean; keeps hallways clear. 11. Anticipates what services and information people need and takes action to provide it. 11.1 Watches for clues that patients or visitors require assistance. Asks,

Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/area's/ department's policies and procedures.
