The Endoscopy Tech assists physicians with endoscopic examinations and prepares the procedure area and equipment. They are also responsible for labeling specimens, reprocessing flexible endoscopes, and transporting equipment throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Labels and sends specimens to proper department/location for analysis.
  • Communicates appropriate information regarding patient status, technical equipment, or unit concerns to necessary healthcare workers.
  • Prepares procedure area and equipment for procedure.
  • Maintains, cleans, and stores endoscopic equipment and supplies.
  • Reprocesses Flexible Endoscopes according to policy.
  • Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.

Qualifications

Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification Maintain current BLS/Healthcare Provider Certification.

Experience One (1) year clinical experience.

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of clinical experience. A current BLS/Healthcare Provider Certification is also required.
