The Research Scientist will engage in full-time research and scholarship, supervised by a senior scholar, and will have the opportunity to publish research results. The incumbent will also assist with laboratory maintenance and participate in various lab projects and meetings.
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree and have a minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral experience. The ideal candidate should demonstrate expertise in murine infection, molecular biology techniques, and genetic manipulation.
The Beirne Carter Center for Immunology Research (CIC) was established to expand basic, translational, and clinical research in Immunology. It is a vibrant, collaborative community of Immunologist studying immune mechanisms in a variety of contexts.

The incumbent will participate in a range of relevant lab projects and write study reports for the study sponsors, papers, and grant applications. As time permits, the incumbent will be expected to develop research programs. The incumbent will also be expected to attend and participate in laboratory meetings and CIC-related seminars, as well as work with graduate students, technicians, fellows, and collaborators in the laboratories involved in the project.
Research Scientist positions are for candidates who have obtained their PhD and have a MINIMUM of 3 years postdoctoral experience.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Doctoral degree required
The ideal candidate must demonstrate a high competency in murine infection and monitoring, molecular biology techniques, working with omics data sets, parasite or microbe culture infection, and genetic manipulation of host an/or microbial cells, bacterial cultures, protein analysis (western blot, ELISA etc.), and imaging techniques. Strong time management skills Strong communication skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Problem-solving and analytical independence Physical Demands This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
