The phlebotomist is responsible for procuring blood specimens via venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick while ensuring proper patient identification. They must also transport specimens to the laboratory and perform related clerical duties using information systems.
A high school diploma is required, and certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program is preferred. Candidates should ideally have at least 6 months of phlebotomy experience and possess necessary clearances and a driver's license.
