The Pharmacy Resident provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care by verifying medication orders and consulting with medical staff on dosing and therapeutic alternatives. They also monitor the metabolic and nutritional needs of patients to enhance the quality of care.
Candidates must hold a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and be licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Louisiana. BLS/ACLS certification is required within three months of hire.
Enhances the quality of patient care by influencing safe, appropriate and cost-effective pharmacotherapeutics through verifying medication orders, consulting with doctors and nurses on the appropriate dosing and selection of therapeutic alternatives for patients and assisting the physician by monitoring the metabolic and nutritional needs of the patient. The Pharmacy Resident is a clinical pharmacist in training who provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, clinical services and teaching. The resident provides services consistent with other services provided by all types of pharmacists at OLOL.
