Patient Care Technician - Endoscopy

• NC Hwy 54, Suite 210 Durham, NC 27713 JOB SUMMARY:We are seeking a Patient Care Technician in our Duke Triangle Endoscopy Center located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team to provide direct and indirect care to patients.
• Job duties and responsibilities:

• Determine, prepare and set up medical supplies and equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
• Explain procedures to patient, allay their fear and elicit cooperation.
• Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to include obtaining specimens, attaching vital sign equipment, and positioning the patient.
• Assist physician and nursing personnel during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures to include, handling instruments and equipment, calling out equipment readings, and handling specimens while maintaining infection control standards.
• Manually clean endoscopes and then perform the proper process to complete high level disinfection of these scopes.
• Distribute supplies as needed and maintain inventory of supplies.
• Assist nurse with transporting the patient into the procedure room and to recovery after the procedure.
• Obtain family members from the waiting room once patient is in recovery, assist patients to restroom when needed and obtain refreshments for patients.
• Clean and dress stretchers in preparation for next patient.
• Clean procedure rooms, including procedural tables, countertops, floor mats and wall suction systems.

Job eligibility requirements

Work requires completion of a related 1 year technical school program. Work generally requires two years of experience in health care specialties related to the specific position; two years additional years related experience may be substituted for the technical school.OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• The schedule for this position would be day shifts Monday to Friday.
