The Oncology Investigational Drug Services Pharmacy Technician is responsible for advanced medication preparation, sterile and hazardous compounding, and workflow coordination under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role also includes mentoring staff and supporting pharmacy leadership in optimizing safety and compliance.
Candidates must have an associate's degree and at least five years of experience as a pharmacy technician. An active permit as a Pharmacy Technician by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy and National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) are required.

General Description: The Inpatient Pharmacy Technician III is an advanced‑level role responsible for performing highly complex inpatient pharmacy technician duties related to medication preparation, sterile and hazardous compounding, automation, and workflow coordination under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role serves as a technical expert, mentor, and operational resource and supports pharmacy leadership in optimizing safety, compliance, and efficiency. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Performs advanced medication preparation, distribution, and documentation activities with expert‑level accuracy and efficiency. Prepares and oversees complex sterile and hazardous compounding, including chemotherapy, TPN, and specialty admixtures, in compliance with USP 797/800 and departmental standards. Serves as a subject matter expert for pharmacy automation systems, including ADCs, carousel systems, barcode medication administration workflows, and compounding technologies. Coordinates daily technician workflows, assignments, and workload distribution in collaboration with pharmacy leadership. Oversees inventory management activities, identifying trends, discrepancies, or risks related to medication availability, expiration, or diversion. Audits medication storage, handling, and compounding practices to ensure regulatory compliance and audit readiness. Leads troubleshooting efforts for complex automation, compounding, or distribution issues and escalates concerns appropriately. Supports quality assurance activities, including competency assessments, environmental monitoring, and documentation review. Assists with technician education, training programs, and ongoing skills development across technician levels. Supports implementation of new pharmacy technologies, workflows, policies, and procedures. Collaborates with pharmacists and leadership to identify system‑level workflow, safety, or efficiency improvement opportunities. Serves as a lead technician or operational designee when assigned. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and performance monitoring efforts. Models best practices in safety, compliance, professionalism, and teamwork. Education: Associate’s degree required.
Advanced pharmacy‑related computer and math skills. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills adaptable to clinical and operational settings. Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
