The role involves autonomously managing routine and urgent ostomy patients, treating peristomal wounds, and managing dermatological conditions. Responsibilities include diagnosing patients, performing minor procedures, and participating in community support groups.
Candidates must be a certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with active New York State licensure. Wound Ostomy Certification (WOCNCB) or equivalent must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
FNP or PA Full-time position Monday – Friday, primarily days This is a unique opportunity to work autonomously in a URMC hospital-based clinic caring for both routine & urgent ostomy patients with peristomal wounds, dermatological conditions, fistulae and tube site irritations. This clinic services patients and providers of the entire upstate NY and southern tier region. Responsibilities include evaluating and diagnosing both new and established patients, triaging postoperative complications as they relate to the GI/GU systems, procedures such as skin biopsies, tissue cultures, and cauterization of benign growths, and community support group involvement. A desire to develop a long-term expertise as a consultant in this field is preferable. Candidate must possess strong clinical and communication skills, demonstrate flexibility in hours and clinic location, have a positive attitude and have a team-based work ethic. One year of clinical experience is preferred. FNP certification preferred for interested Nurse Practitioners. Eligibility for and acquisition of Wound Ostomy Certification (WOCNCB) or an equivalent certification for Physician Assistant's must be completed within 12 months of hire.
Nurse Practitioner Require a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner. Physician Assistant Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
