The role involves providing occupational therapy modalities and treatment procedures under the supervision of an occupational therapist. It also includes overseeing the care of patients treated by technicians and students, as well as guiding assigned staff.
Candidates must hold an Associate's Degree from an approved Occupational Therapist Assistant Program. Required certifications include COTA licensure in Georgia and BLS certification through the AHA.
Functions under the direct supervision of the occupational therapist responsible for a specific patient's care. The certified occupational therapist assistant assumes responsibility and accountability for providing occupational therapy modalities and treatment procedures as determined by a treatment plan established by an occupational therapist. Responsible for the care of patients treated by rehabilitation technicians, students, and observers. Responsible for orientation and ongoing guidance of assigned staff.
