Graduate Practical Nurse

Performs the primary functions of an LPN in assisting with assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of all patients, regardless of age, during his/her shift. Responsible for meeting the established standards of skilled nursing practice. Professional Graduate Practical Nurse collaborates with the care team, participates in interdisciplinary care, and advocates for patients.

Practices ethically and professionally within their scope. Maintains clinical competence specific to their care area including organization required education within stated timeframe. Coordinates care with interdisciplinary team. Communicates effectively. Documents appropriately and thoroughly in EMR. Promotes EBP (evidence-based practice) and best practices related to patient care. Participates in unit councils and staff meetings.
