Provide clinical and administrative support under the supervision of a licensed practitioner to promote patient health and wellness. Responsibilities include performing clinical intake, documenting patient data, and reinforcing patient education plans.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and a current CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification (or completion of an approved program). Must possess AHA Healthcare Provider BLS certification and the ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

Accountability, Stewardship, Professionalism, Integrity, Respect, and Equity, ensuring high standards of patient care and collaborative work environment.The Medical Assistant will provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and provide general support under direct supervision of a licensed practitioner or designee in accordance with UVA Health policies and procedures and competency to promote patient health and wellness. This position requires providing service to all age populations in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.
High School Diploma or GED Required.
Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinic setting preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) credentials or completion of an approved medical assistant program required. Must obtain certification within 6 months of date of hire through a recognized national professional association such as: AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) AMT (American Medical Technologists) ARMA (American Registry of Medical Assistants) NAHP (The National Association of Healthcare Professions) NHA (National Healthcare Association)
AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required. Ability to successfully complete general and department role based specific skills validation and competency testing.
