The Surgical Technologist manages instrumentation, equipment, and supplies while maintaining a sterile environment in the scrub role. They collaborate with surgeons and nurses to provide safe and efficient care during complex surgical procedures.
Requires graduation from an accredited surgical technology program and BLS certification upon hire. NBSTSA certification is required within one year of hire, with advanced roles requiring 2+ years of independent scrubbing experience.
Candidates may be considered for placement into either the Surgical Technologist or Advanced Surgical Technologist role based on years of experience, specialty training, and meeting the qualifications of the higher-level position. The Advanced Surgical Technologist expands on this foundation by supporting complex procedures, such as Cardiothoracic, Transplant, Neurosurgery, and Vascular and by contributing to protocol development, specialty instrumentation management, and workflow optimization for advanced surgical service lines. Required to provide coverage to other surgical services based on practice needs and competency outside of their primary service.
