The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and administrative support, including performing preliminary physical tests and administering vaccines. They also manage clinical documentation, handle prior authorizations, and act as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers.
A high school diploma is required, while a Medical Assistant diploma or certificate and primary care experience are preferred. Candidates must be able to obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and demonstrate cultural humility when working with LGBTQ+ and underserved populations.

Position overview: Medical Assistant:
The Medical Assistant plays an essential role in supporting the clinical team by providing direct patient care and administrative support. This position ensures a smooth and efficient patient experience by assisting providers during examinations, managing clinical documentation, and maintaining a safe and organized care environment.

Act as a liaison between the patient and the healthcare providers. Verify patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history in the EMR system, and confirming the purpose of the visit. Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, such as taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, and documenting findings. Administer injections and vaccines to patients. Assist providers with pap smear examinations. Perform electrocardiograms (EKG), Quanta Flo testing (for peripheral vascular disease), and Spirometry testing (to assess lung capacity). Perform ear lavages, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, and glucose finger sticks. Conduct testing for sexually transmitted infections (Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, Hepatitis C, and HIV rapid tests). Demonstrate teamwork by providing support and coverage as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a similar role; Primary Care experience preferred.
Work Experience Experience with EMR programs. Experience working with LGBTQ+ communities, people living with HIV, or other underserved populations strongly preferred.
Licenses and Certifications Valid Driver’s License. (required) Medical Assistant diploma or certificate. (preferred) Must be able to obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card during background check process. (Required)
120 hours of Vacation time, 4.62 hours accrued bi-weekly starting date of hire. Available to use after the first day of employment. 1 week, 40 hours of Paid Sick Leave accrued bi-weekly starting date of hire. Available to use after the first day of employment. 9 annual paid holidays. You are also entitled to carry over 80 hours of PTO into the following calendar year.
